New Staff at Kollel

July 29th, 2005

The Norfolk Area Community Kollel has been in existence, offering Jewish education to the Norfolk area since 2001. Since its inception, the Kollel has desired to offer the most interesting and intriguing schedule of events and classes that it could as well as be a community resource and center of Jewish education in the Norfolk area.

The Norfolk Kollel wishes to notify the community of some staff changes that have recently taken place. Rabbi Aryeh Leib Pomerantz has resigned as Rosh Kollel effective August 31, 2005. The Kollel thanks Rabbi Pomerantz and his wife for their dedicated service over the past few years and wishes he and his family continued success in their future endeavors.

Over the past four years the Kollel has had the blessing of employing many wonderful rabbis and their families who have all added a tremendous amount to the Kollel’s programming. One of those rabbis was Rabbi Ephraim Adler. Rabbi Adler will be rejoining the Kollel in the position of Executive Vice President. Rabbi Adler adds several years of experience to this position. After successfully completing several years of work and study in the Kollel, he became a certified public accountant with Goodman & Company here in Norfolk. While he will continue to practice accounting, Rabbi Adler will also give guidance and counsel to the Kollel members. The Kollel and its board are sure that his background as a rabbi and in the business world will assist the Kollel in its mission of, “Inspiration through Education.”

In addition, the Kollel is pleased to announce the arrival of Rabbi Gershon Litt. Rabbi Litt has agreed to assume the title of Director of Programming and Community Relations. As such, he will direct the Kollel’s programming and represent the Kollel to the general community. Rabbi Litt has a degree in communication from University of Texas, Austin and worked in the political arena at the Texas state capital. He also served as a rabbi with Partners in Torah in New City, NY and as Director of Programming for Aish HaTorah in St. Louis, MO. His background and experience will serve him well in this new position.

Rabbi Moshe Rubanowitz and Rabbi Michoel Kadosh will continue to serve as members of the Kollel offering classes and educational opportunities to the adult and teen communities. Rabbi Rubanowitz and Rabbi Kadosh offer their own unique brand of Torah education to the Norfolk Jewish community.

The officers and members of the Board of Directors are confident that with these changes in place, the Kollel will continue to thrive and inspire the community.
